“Driftin’”/“Never Be the Same”

Here are two original songs recorded by Dark Hollow, the title track of the 2003 Driftin’ CD and a selection from the 1998 album Junction.

The track “Driftin’” is a musical snapshot of a bygone era when cruising the avenue was a ritual, small towns had their quaint and recognizable landmarks and sex was as veiled as the references in this song. In a tip of the hat to psychedelia and the avant-garde, the solo section consists primarily of a sound collage of backward tapes and field recordings. The track features Joe Bocchetti, Katie Coltri and me. Copyright: Farinaccio 1996

Driftin’

The Junction track “Never Be the Same” is a co-composition with Jerry Gormley. It was written and demoed in one day and the final recording below was completed in one session the following evening. The song’s alternating free verse stanzas and structured choruses tell an oblique tale with a pulsing chant by the background vocals. The track features Joe Bocchetti and me.
